Using AI to Find the Perfect DJ

Last night, we were discussing Mark 2 over dinner. During our conversation, my 15 year old laughed that it was noised about that Jesus “was in the house” and then later that it said “they uncovered the roof where he was” and she interpreted that to be the old fashioned way of saying they raised the roof. She then said, “Did they have a DJ there spinning beats or something?”

She unleashed a pursuit that I didn’t realize existed.

For your viewing pleasure, here are the 20+ images I created using AI to get the perfect DJ Peter the Apostle spinning beats.

I used Stable Diffusion (Automatic1111 and Diffusion Bee).

These first four images were what I got immediately, which is strange because I NEVER get good stuff on my first try! I was using a model called “Dreamlike Diffusion 1” and had left it active in DiffusionBee without realizing it and it made some beautiful images.

This one was my favorite. I actually like the blurred out faces in the background. It adds a vibe that I think is just great!

After running these images, I ran these four in Automatic1111, without the dreamlike model. The results were not as good.

Although, you will notice in the bottom left one, I got the classic Icon halo, which is something that I liked, a lot.

With the next three, I went back to DiffusionBee and took off the dreamlike model, and got some that were similar to the set of four above. Not quite the vibe I was looking for.

They were still pretty cool, though. This next one was pretty good, but not amazing.

The hands are always weird, right, so I started putting in some negative prompts to get rid of the bad hands. Didn’t work all the time, but I started getting some better results. On this next one, I tried to make it in the style of Spiderman, into the Spiderverse, which was just ok.

Then my daughter suggested the style of Bob Ross, so we went with that a little:

Again, not bad, but not amazing. For these next ones, I was just playing around with different settings and trying to figure out how to get what I wanted. The seed that I was using for these was 324, which I just chose randomly.

Why did a beer suddenly appear here?
I like the Jesus in the back in this one and the guy trying to crash the party by climbing in the window, too!
Is that a hookah?

I changed something, don’t remember what now, to get the celestial turntable with the giant record!

These next four, I took out references to an artist, which I had been playing with in previous iterations. The neon look really came out great. And I don’t even know how it happened, but it’s got a great vibe. I love each of these in their own way. Honestly, I can’t choose a favorite, but they are all my favorite, so far. These were made in Automatic1111. These were a random seed. Here’s the prompt:

Digital portrait of Peter the Apostle as a DJ spinning beats behind Jesus healing the man with palsy, 8k, extremely detailed, ornate, cinematic lighting, vivid.

He’s got the holy grail!
This one has a great icon look, that I really like.
Perhaps the best thing about this one is his hand is making a classic icon hand gesture of blessing, which I just love.

I changed my prompt to be digital portrait and used yet another model. This one made it too modern:

I mean, that’s just some modern guy. Not what I was going for. So I added a time period. Now there’s no DJ equipment.

So I took out the time period, and got this guy!

So, I adjusted further. and I got some ripped guys:

And one where I’m not sure if they’re playing roulette or spinning tracks?

But then, this one, pretty much the exact image in my mind popped out.

Here’s what I love. It’s got that Russian Orthodox Icon thing going that reminds me of my time in Russia. It’s got good enough hands. It looks like he’s almost blessing the turntable. Just love how this one turned out. By far my favorite.
